Matt Damon Confirmed for Fifth Bourne Movie
Looks like those rumors circling the Internet last month are confirmed: Matt Damon will reprise his role as Jason Bourne in the fifth installment of the Bourne franchise. All he really needed was for Paul Greengrass—director of Supremacy and Ultimatum—to say yes.
This is exciting news for Bourne fans, and actually, it was Ben Affleck who inadvertently spilled the beans about Damon returning. At the red carpet event of Affleck and Damon’s passion venture Project Greenlight, Affleck told E! News, “Well, Damon’s going to be doing a Bourne movie next fall, when I’ve just completely lost any semblance of fitness, so…”
The E! News reporter turned to Damon for confirmation.
“Yes, next year. Well, it’ll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. But Paul Greengrass is going to do another one, and that’s all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes,” Damon said.
Damon starred in the first three of the four Bourne movies, with the fourth, The Bourne Legacy, starring Jeremy Renner as another agent. Needless to say, it just wasn’t the same.
And here’s some more news on Matt Damon casting: the star has also been attached to star in an Alexander Payne movie called Downsizing. The film follows a man who undergoes a shrinking procedure as a way to cut costs. Sounds very Ant-Man meets South Beach diet.
Now that Damon’s headed back to Bourne, what should the fifth installment be called? The Bourne Resurrection? The Bourne Manifestation? Or what about just Bourne Again? We’ll have to wait and see.
