Amy Poehler Is Hasty Pudding’s Woman of the Year 2015
Every year, Harvard’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals—the oldest theater organization in the country—names a Woman of the Year and Man of the Year. Last year, they selected Helen Mirren for WOY. This year, they’ve revealed that their 2015 Woman of the Year is Amy Poehler.
Poehler, a Massachusetts native, recently published her memoir Yes Please, and is known for her roles on shows like Parks and Rec and SNL. She and partner-in-comedy Tina Fey will host the Golden Globes for the third time this Sunday. And that right there is just a very, very abbreviated version of Poehler’s lengthy and impressive resume.
In the announcement Tuesday, the organization wrote, “The Pudding is proud to honor a talented and hilarious actress whose brand of comedy fits so well with the Pudding’s own tradition of satire and social commentary.”
“We are extremely excited to announce Amy Poehler as our 2015 Woman of the Year. She is an accomplished performer, incredible comedian, and an inspiration to everyone in the Hasty Pudding,” said Jason Hellerstein, ’15 President of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals, in the announcement.” “We look forward to welcoming Ms. Poehler and celebrating and honoring her achievements in a truly unique and memorable way.”
That “way” will be a special parade and roast on January 29. Poehler will lead the parade at 4 p.m. through the streets of Cambridge. The roast will take place after that, and Poehler will receive her coveted Pudding Pot at Farkas Hall at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $60 on Vendini.
Hasty Pudding’s Man of the Year will be announced next week. Last year’s winner was Neil Patrick Harris.
