Best of the Day: Adult Night at Legoland – May 20, 2015

Legoland's monthly 18-plus blockbuster event returns for a special '80s-prom-themed night.

Welcome to Best of the Day, our daily recommendation for what to check out around town. If you do one thing in Boston today, consider this.

Once a month, Lego fanatics can converge at Assembly Square, create and destroy miniature worlds, and brandish a plastic-brick sword while yelling “Happy Adult Night!” But tonight is special. Because adults can do all that stuff, plus travel back in time, and—against all odds—have fun at the prom.

For a special installment of their monthly Adult Night, Somerville’s Legoland Discovery Center is hosting an ’80s prom. If just the mere mention of prom induces post traumatic stress, fear not. This isn’t about the Drakkar Noir-fogged scrum of social Darwinism and bad hair from your formative teenage years. Here, prom-goers can be crowned prom royalty for building the raddest Lego diorama! Plus, you can enjoy adult beverages that weren’t snuck in disguised as Snapple. (After all, if there’s anything that makes putting together a complicated Lego set easier, it’s a little alcohol.)

$23, May 20, 7-9 p.m., Legoland Discovery Center, Assembly Row, 598 Assembly Row, Somerville, 866-228-6439, legolanddiscoverycenter.com.
