PorchfestFEST Is Coming to Lawn on D
Following the success of their second annual Jamaica Plain Porchfest held last month, organizers are bringing a smaller, less traditional version of the event to the Lawn on D.
On Saturday, August 8, PorchfestFEST will take over the South Boston venue, where musicians will perform on two large porch-like stages set up against a cityscape backdrop painted by local artist James Hobin. A third traditional stage will be set up under The Tent, near the bar and food trucks.
A lineup of 10 local acts has been scheduled, representing a variety of genres, including Motown, gospel, jazz and R&B, world, folk, rock & roll, and country. The free event will run from 3 to 9 p.m., culminating in a dance party led by Debo Band, an 11-member Ethiopian funk group. The band will be introduced by Julie Burros, Boston’s chief of arts and culture.
