Mindy Kaling’s New Book Tops New York Times Best Sellers List
Cambridge native Mindy Kaling is having a pretty awesome month so far.
After celebrating the release of her new book Why Not Me? at an event in Boston on September 15—which also coincided with the triumphant return of The Mindy Project on Hulu—the actress now has another reason to party. Her book is sitting atop the New York Times best sellers list for hardcover nonfiction.
Kaling thanked her fans for buying the book and tweeted out an image of the list on Thursday.

It’s a pretty awesome honor for Kaling, who’s previous book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?, also made it on to a number of best sellers lists (although it did not reach No. 1 on the coveted New York Times chart). The Boston-bred star is proving to be quite the force on the literary scene.
That’s not the only big news Kaling celebrated this week. Her character on The Mindy Project finally gave birth to a baby boy during the latest episode of the show.
Doesn’t the (fictional) happy couple look so adorable?

On top of that, Kaling also had the pleasure of presenting comedian Jon Stewart with one of his final Emmy Awards for his work on The Daily Show last weekend. The former late night host and his team took home the award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series.
As September comes to a close, it’s going to be hard for Kaling to top such a successful month.
While she doesn’t have a ton of new stuff scheduled to come out before the end of the year, the actress is set to appear in the upcoming holiday comedy The Night Before, which stars Seth Rogen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, oh, and Miley Cyrus.
