On Sunday afternoon, costumed pups and their owners took over a half-mile stretch of the Esplanade for the fifth annual Canine Promenade. Every year, proceeds from the pre-Halloween tradition hosted by the Esplanade Association help to fund dog-oriented improvements to the park.

Here, we recap some of the prevalent themes from this year’s event.

Food

This year, the food theme reigned supreme, with several dogs dressed up as edible treats, including multiple tacos and lobsters, a Fenway Frank, a bag of popcorn, and a banana. Distinctly New England costumes came out on top, with a family dressed up as a clam bake and another group dressed up as offerings from Dunkin Donuts taking first and second places, respectively, in the group category.
