Matt Damon Gets Trolled Again on Jimmy Kimmel Live
As usual, Matt Damon did not get a warm welcome when he appeared on Tuesday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The Boston-bred actor stopped by the late night show to help out with its Shopathon for (RED) and Vice Media in honor of World AIDS Day on December 1. While celebrities like Bono, Snoop Dogg, and Scarlett Johansson all got some air time to discuss the experiences they are giving away for charity on Omaze.com, Damon was once again left backstage.
“As you can see, we have some of the world’s most talented and beloved celebrities helping out tonight. Unfortunately, we also have Matt Damon,” Kimmel said. “In the 90s he was in that movie where he liked apples and then he was Liberace’s boyfriend. I guess that’s basically it.”
After the less-than-glowing introduction, Damon did appear via a video feed and pleaded with Kimmel to let him on stage to talk about his charity auction. Unfortunately, that wasn’t going to fly with the late night host, so the Cambridge born star was forced to discuss his “Matt Damon Jimmy Kimmel Live Experience” while sitting in his not-so-cozy dressing room.
“The winner and a guest will join me in this poorly lit, underground dressing room that I patiently wait in every night,” Damon said. “Once here, you’ll set next to me on this old futon in complete silence while I wait to see if I’m going to get on the show that night.”
The actor added that amenities will include a “non-functioning air conditioner,” an old issue of People magazine, and the “finest mini cheese cubes that Kimmel’s catering staff can find in the back of the fridge.”
Following his video pitch, Damon tried to sneakily call into the show’s HSN style Shopathon, but was quickly called out by Kimmel.
“Matt from Boston, what’s your last name?” the comedian asked.
“Affleck,” Damon replied.
“Yeah, your name’s Matt Affleck? Hang up the phone,” Kimmel joked.
