Meghan Trainor’s Family Band Played Caribbean Music on Nantucket
Fresh off of her People’s Choice Awards win, Meghan Trainor stopped by the Late Late Show with James Corden on Thursday night.
After singing a New Year’s version of “All About That Bass” with the late night host, Trainor chatted a bit about her humble, musical origin on the shores of Nantucket.
The Massachusetts-born singer revealed that her very first band involved playing Caribbean music with members of her family for audiences around the island.
“We were called Island Fusion because we did Caribbean soca songs and then we also did pop music by me,” Trainor said. “We were in clubs, but Nantucket clubs.”
While Trainor would obviously end up leaving the group to pursue a pretty successful pop career, she’s not ruling out a family band reunion.
“We might get back together,” Trainor said.
