Providence School Uses Adele’s ‘Hello’ to Announce Today’s Snow Day

Announcing school closings via Twitter is so last year. To get the word out, sometimes you need the soulful, powerful reach of Adele.
Providence’s Moses Brown School captured the tortured spirit of the British soul singer to relay word that classes today were cancelled, creating a full-song parody video of “Hello”—complete with sepia tones, adapted song lyrics, and moody close-ups of the faculty staff and students.
“You know it snowed a lot last night,” sings Matt Glendinning, the head of Moses Brown School, parodying the “Hello” chorus to brilliant effect. “And now it’s just not safe to drive.”
The video stars the Moses Brown staff and its students, and follows up a video they released last year to announce a school closing, where they parodied “Let It Go” from the Disney blockbuster Frozen. Maybe one day, after graduation, former students will return for a rendition of “When We Were Young.”
Moses Brown School is described as “an independent, college-prep, Quaker day school in Providence, RI, for girls and boys in nursery through grade 12.” Adele, meanwhile, plays the TD Garden in Boston later this year, a two-night stand September 14 and 15.
