Spotlight came up big at the 88th annual Academy Awards, as the Boston-set drama won an Oscar for Best Picture on Sunday night.

The film, based on the Boston Globe‘s investigation into the Catholic Church’s sex abuse scandals, also picked up a win in the Best Original Screenplay category for director and writer Tom McCarthy and writer Josh Singer.

Producer Michael Sugar called on Pope Francis to do more for survivors during the acceptance speech for Best Picture.

“This film gave a voice to survivors, and this Oscar amplifies that voice which we hope will become a choir that will resonate all the way to the Vatican,” Sugar said. “Pope Francis, it’s time to protect the children and restore the faith.”

After taking home the night’s big award, McCarthy and Singer were spotted celebrating with Spotlight stars Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, Michael Keaton, and Liev Schreiber in a photo posted on actress Naomi Watts’ Instagram account.

Leonardo DiCaprio edged out Matt Damon and finally took home a shiny new Oscar, winning in the Best Actor category for his role in The Revenant. Alejandro G. Iñárritu, who helmed the drama, won the award for Best Director for the second year in a row.

Room star Brie Larson won her first Oscar for Best Actress while director George Miller’s post-apocalyptic thriller Mad Max: Fury Road won the most overall awards with six Oscars.
