The ‘Most Interesting Man in the World’ Says Goodbye to Dos Equis

New England native Jonathan Goldsmith is being replaced.

He may have won the lifetime achievement award, twice, and his shirts may never wrinkle, but even the “Most Interesting Man in the World” can get replaced.

Beer brand Dos Equis has announced that it is parting ways with New England native Jonathan Goldsmith, who will be forced to pass down his title to another actor.

The 77-year-old Boston University alum has become a pop culture icon over the past nine years for his work as “Most Interesting Man in the World.” While Goldsmith will no longer be featured in Dos Equis commercials telling viewers to “Stay thirsty, my friends,” the actor is excited for the next chapter in his life.

“I feel terrific, I really do,” Goldsmith recently told the Associated Press. “I’ve had a great time in the last 10 years.”

While Dos Equis has yet to name a replacement, the company has released several clips of people bidding Goldsmith goodbye.

The actor himself stars in one of the videos, which says that his character will be leaving Earth to explore Mars, because that’s how you make an exit as the “Most Interesting Man in the World.”
