Matthew Perry Will Play Ted Kennedy in an Upcoming Miniseries

He'll star opposite Katie Holmes in The Kennedys sequel on Reelz.

Friends star Matthew Perry has a new gig lined up.

According to Variety, Perry has signed on to play Ted Kennedy in The Kennedys — After Camelot. The upcoming miniseries will be a sequel to Reelz’s The Kennedys, which debuted in 2011.

Joining Perry, who will also be an executive producer on the project, will be Katie Holmes. The actress will reprise her role as Jackie Kennedy Onassis, whom she played in the original series.

The Kennedys — After Camelot will examine Ted’s life and friendship with Jackie following the assassinations of his brothers John and Bobby. The series is slated to begin production in Canada this spring and will debut sometime in 2017.

This isn’t the only project based on the members of the Kennedy family that is currently in the works.

Actress Natalie Portman will also be playing the former First Lady in Jackie, an upcoming biopic that is being helmed by Pablo Larraín and has Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky attached as a producer.

As for Ted, Fifty Shades Of Grey director Sam Taylor-Johnson has reportedly been in talks to direct an upcoming film titled Chappaquiddick, which will explore the late Massachusetts Senator’s 1969 scandal.
