Watch Boston Pop-Rapper Scott Isbell’s Video for ‘Trumpified’

It was only a matter of time—there is now a music video for “Trumpified.”

Scott Isbell’s ode to presidential horror-show candidate Donald Trump has generated more than 42 million plays on Soundcloud, and now it has entered the arena of YouTube.

The video, which shows the Acton native and current Emerson College senior profess his undying love and alliance to the GOP candidate, is pretty much exactly what you would expect. It has a makeshift dorm-room studio, “Make America Great Again” hats, and even a Rosie O’Donnell doll, which gets rained on with Trump currency.

You’d swear Isbell was trolling all of us.

Earlier this month, we wrote about the track—and the response it got from fans and skeptics. Isbell had been profiled by Spin and Boston.com, and “Trumpified” was hanging tough on the Soundcloud charts among names like Wiz Khalifa, Fetty Wap, and Young Thug. Some speculated that the high play count is a result of his management, led by Worcester’s Jimmy Kang of Wu-Tang Entertainment, using fake bots to drive up the numbers, but Isbell’s camp denied all claims.

Isbell, who says he will vote for Trump this fall, became impressed with the candidate last year after reading Trump’s 1987 book, The Art of the Deal. But he wants to be known for much more than a follower of a controversial political figure.

“I wrote a song because I saw a lane in music where nobody was really writing about politics,” Isbell said. “I feel this country has become ‘Trumpified’. I know Donald Trump comes across all of our minds every single day. At this point, he’s on the mind of the world. He was in a feud with the Pope. He’s created a buzz and a narrative better than anyone I’ve ever seen.”
