The Band Boston Will Play Boston After All

Last month, Boston, the legendary classic rock band led and propped up by legendary guitarist Tom Scholz, announced their 40th Anniversary Tour. And Boston, the wicked awesome city we all live in, was oddly left off the itinerary.
That all changed this week as the band tacked on a final and local date, August 14 at the Wang Theatre, reportedly marking Boston’s first performance as Boston in Boston since 1994. Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. via the Citi Performing Arts Center box office and ticketmaster.com.
“I’m very excited to bring Boston back to Boston,” says Scholz in a press release. “Music broadcast from Boston got me interested in rock when I was in high school living in Toledo, Ohio. Later, studying and working in this city taught me everything I needed to know to create Boston’s sound in my studio. Our home town fans have always been great, and I could think of no better way to end our 40th anniversary tour than back here in Boston where it all started.”
Boston, known for such rock radio classics like “More Than a Feeling,” “Peace of Mind,” and “Smokin’,” kick off their tour April 29 in Hollywood, Florida.
Joining Scholz in the band for this upcoming tour will be longtime guitarist Gary Pihl (who joined in 1986), as well as vocalist Tommy DeCarlo (who was enlisted after original singer Brad Delp died in 2007), bassist Tracy Ferrie, keyboardist Beth Cohen, and drummer Curly Smith.
