Officials announced on Wednesday morning that pop megastars Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas will headline this year’s Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular. The two-hour event will be broadcast live on CBS from the Charles River Esplanade starting at 9 p.m., Monday, July 4.
The pair is set to perform some of their most popular hits with the Boston Pops Orchestra, which will be led by conductor Keith Lockhart. The outdoor concert, which brings in more than a half million fans to the Esplanade each year, is free to the public.
According to the Boston Globe, the Fireworks Spectacular will once again be aired nationally on the CBS Television Network after having been dropped in 2012. The concert, now in its 43rd year, will also be the last for executive producer David Mugar, who founded the annual event way back in 1974.
“It’s an incredible chance for New England to really shine,” Mugar told the Globe.
Following their Fourth of July show with the Pops, Lovato and Jonas will be back in Boston on Wednesday, July 20 for a performance at the TD Garden.
