Rob Gronkowski Explains Snubbing Chris Evans at the Captain America Premiere

The Patriots star revealed the real reason to Katie Nolan.

Chris Evans was a bit bummed when Rob Gronkowski didn’t respond to his invite to the Captain America: Civil War premiere.

The Boston-bred actor said on Jimmy Kimmel Live last month that he “didn’t hear back” from Gronk, although Danny Amendola did stop by the red carpet to declare his allegiance to Team Cap.

The Patriots tight end wanted to clear the air and recently revealed the real reason why he snubbed Evans while chatting with Katie Nolan. Gronk explained that he was training in Miami at the time and couldn’t make it over to the premiere in Los Angeles.

“I didn’t blow off Captain America,” Gronkowksi said. “He asked me to go to the premiere like 3 months ago. I would love to go to the premiere, see the movie with him, he’s a cool dude, I’ve met him before, but I was training in Miami with my brother.”

Gronk added that, “it was just a little too much” on his body and he “wanted to make sure” he was in shape for when the Patriots preseason starts.

The football star also said that he did apologize to Evans for not being able to make the premiere.

“I answered him back actually,” Gronkowski told Nolan. “[I] said, ‘I’m sorry dawg, I’m just not out there and I can’t make it.'”
