The U.S. women’s gymnastics team presented team captain Aly Raisman with a touching note following her silver medal finish in the individual all-around.
After her latest performance at the Rio Olympics, the Needham native returned to her room to find the lovely tribute from her “Final Five” teammates Madison Kocian and Laurie Hernandez. The pair wrote, “We love you Mama Aly,” and congratulated the 22-year-old on becoming a silver medalist.
Raisman posted a photo of the nice gesture on social media along with a caption thanking her fellow team members, including individual all-around gold medalist Gabby Douglas, who sent her the “sweetest text.”
“I have the best teammates,” Raisman wrote. “When we walked in the door Laurie, Madison and Gabby swarmed us with lots of hugs.”
Raisman and the rest of the “Final Five” crew has received quite a few social media shoutouts from celebrities during this year’s Summer Olympics.
Red Sox slugger David Ortiz tweeted that the Massachusetts gymnastics star made “Boston proud,” while singer Taylor Swift broke her Twitter silence in order to congratulate the group on their team competition win.
