Get ready to see more of Mindy Kaling on the big screen.
Following rumors of the Massachusetts native’s involvement in the all-female Ocean’s Eleven spinoff, it looks like the Mindy Project star is in talks to join another huge Hollywood movie. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Kaling is in negotiations to star in Disney’s upcoming adaptation of author Madeleine L’Engle’s popular children’s book A Wrinkle in Time.
If she signs onto the movie, Kaling will likely be surrounded by some pretty awesome co-workers as Oprah Winfrey is already attached to the film, while Reese Witherspoon is reportedly circling the project as well. A Wrinkle in Time, which is slated to begin production in November, is also being helmed by Oscar-nominated director Ava DuVernay.
The science fiction book revolves around the story of a young girl who goes on a mission to find her missing father, a government scientist. The girl ends up getting some help from three immortal beings, Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which.
The Hollywood Reporter claims Kaling will play Mrs. Who, Witherspoon will play Mrs. Whatsit, while Winfrey will play Mrs. Which.
If all of that isn’t exciting enough, the script for A Wrinkle in Time was penned by Jennifer Lee, the writer and co-director of Frozen. Hopefully this means fans will get to see Kaling and Winfrey break out into song together.
