Celebrate Chinese New Year 2017 at These Boston Events
Chinatown Parade and Festival
Chinatown’s annual Chinese New Year parade is a kaleidoscopic display of colors and sounds featuring traditional lion dancers and their musical accompaniments, food, and lanterns hanging from every storefront. For calligraphy, origami, and other activities, head to the nearby “cultural village,” located in the China Trade Building.

Open House at the MFA
The Museum of Fine Arts will offer free admission this Saturday in honor of the Lunar New Year. The celebration boasts a full roster of activities and performances, such as martial arts displays and printmaking, as well as guided tours of the museum’s Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese art exhibits.

Quincy Lunar New Year Festival
Quincy Asian Resources will host the city’s 29th annual market and food festival to mark the Lunar New Year at North Quincy High School. The event will include a variety of vendors, performances, cultural exhibits, and a food competition between area restaurants judged by the attendees.

Confucius Institute Festival
Ring in the Year of the Rooster at UMass Boston’s Confucius Institute’s celebration, hosted in the campus center ballroom. Festivities will include a range of performances, games, and food.

Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center Banquet
BCNC’s annual banquet for the Chinese New Year at Hei La Moon restaurant is both a delightful cultural celebration and a great way to support an organization that provides services to Asian American and Asian immigrant families in the Boston area. The evening will include a reception and auction followed by dinner and performances from musicians, as well as red envelope paper crafts and Chinese calligraphy.
