As part of its 50th Anniversary Season, Roundabout Theatre Company is reviving their Tony Award-winning version of the classic show, which was conceived by Rob Marshall of Chicago fame and Sam Mendes, of Daniel Craig Bond movie fame. Enjoy the musical numbers and appreciate the journey of a singer Sally Bowles and writer Cliff Bradshaw navigating romance and turmoil in Weimar-era Berlin, and think about how eerily prescient the timing of this particular show is.

Chinese Lunar New Year 

Pop into the MFA this Saturday to celebrate the Year of the Rooster and to learn more about Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese arts and culture. Watch dance performances by Dragon Dance Troupe and Gund Kwok Asian Women Lion, create your own prints with your friends and family, see a demonstration of Chinese martial arts, and join a walking tour in the Art of Asia galleries. Admission is free all day!

Considering Matthew Shepard

Composer Craig Hella Johnson’s Considering Matthew Shepard is an homage to Shepard’s life. Shepard was the victim of a brutal hate crime assault in 1998, and died days after the attack. The performance includes piano and song, and features real quotations from Shepard’s journal and interviews with his parents. Considering Matthew Shepard promises a unique combination of biography and music sure to inspire contemplation and conversations about violence and identity.

Let loose this Friday with Cash Cash at the Royale. The group, which formed when some of its members were high school students in New Jersey, has been performing together in various permutations for over a decade and has collaborated with such varied acts as John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls and pop singer Bebe Rexha. Expect some of the band’s older hits as well as newer songs from their recent album, “Blood, Sweat & 3 Years.”

A New York City comedy force to be reckoned with, Sam Morril has performed stand-up on a variety of shows including the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Inside Amy Schumer, Last Comic Standing, and America’s Got Talent. Expect jokes about sex, family, religion, and more.
