Mindy Kaling Had the Best Time Ever in New Zealand
Everyone’s favorite comedy queen left the States for Kiwi country a couple weeks ago and her Instagame has never been stronger. She was in New Zealand filming the upcoming movie adaptation of the classic children’s novel A Wrinkle in Time, set to be released next year. When she wasn’t soaking in the beyond beautiful surroundings, she was busy making friends with her co-stars Reese Witherspoon and Oprah Winfrey, and simultaneously making us all incredibly jealous.
Directed by Ava DuVernay, the film is based on the 1962 novel by Madeleine L’Engle. Kaling will be playing Mrs. Who, a literature-quoting supernatural being who aids a young girl (Storm Reid) on an interplanetary quest. As we all anxiously await its release date, at least we have these stellar shots to tide us over.
She prepped for her trip by studying up on Kiwi culture aka re-watching Lord of the Rings.
But all she really needed to know was the best local snack items.
And then when she got thirsty, she took a sip of some “hella good stream water.”
She’s still killing the caption game from halfway around the world.
Look at her! She is straight up LOVING life.
She regrams from Reese Witherspoon, because you know, they’re best friends now.
How could anyone resist snapping this cute pic with such a gorgeous backdrop?
She shows some love for her cast and crew with this group shot.
And keeps it real about the not-so-glam side of filming.
There may be some beautiful sights in New Zealand, but this photo of Oprah making margaritas is truly once in a lifetime.
But all travel must come to an end. The actress made it back to Hollywood in time for the Vanity Fair Oscar party last night, which she attended with (who else) friend/former co-star/possible love of her life B.J. Novak.
