Here’s the Trailer for Bill Belichick’s D-Day Documentary
Bill Belichick isn’t one to seek out the spotlight. It makes sense, then, that if he’s going to notch an IMDB credit, it’ll be for narration.
The Patriots head coach lent his velvety pipes to a new documentary about the Allied invasion of Nazi-occupied France on D-Day in World War II, titled D-Day: Over Normandy. The hourlong special was produced by the Rhode Island-based WWII Foundation, and features drone and helicopter footage of key battlegrounds in the greatest invasion in military history.
“Every day of my childhood, I was immersed in the tradition of the United States Navy,” Belichick said in a release. “I was, and remain, inspired by their discipline, teamwork, and courage, especially the sailors who fought on D-Day and in the Pacific theater, where the U.S. Pacific Fleet sacrificed so much for ultimate victory. The Navy, Army, Air Force and Marines made one heck of a team in World War II.”
Belichick grew up in Annapolis, Maryland, and his father coached football at the United States Naval Academy after serving in the Navy in World War II. In an interview last month, Belichick took CNBC’s Suzy Welch to Mission BBQ in Annapolis, where staff and patrons sing the National Anthem every day at noon.
D-Day: Over Normandy airs Sunday, May 21, at 6 p.m. on WGBH 2.
