While David O. Russell and his hot A-list cast continued shooting American Hustle in Boston over the past two months, a couple more Hollywood projects are moving into town really soon—and they’re bringing several more big-name celebrities with them.
Production Weekly tweeted earlier yesterday that Robert Downey Jr. will be in Boston filming his movie, The Judge, on June 3 and Denzel Washington will begin shooting The Equalizer on June 17.

According to screenrant.com, The Equalizer is expected to be the “red-hot” project of the year and some claim that the movie was “designed to launch the first franchise” for Washington. The film is loosely based on the 1980s TV series starring Edward Woodward as private detective Robert McCall. Deadline says Denzel Washington will play “a solitary, monastic figure who hates injustice and devotes himself to helping people who are being victimized.”
While Washington’s whereabouts in Boston are currently under wraps, OnLocationVacations.com reported that Downey Jr.’s project will shoot in the Boston area (according to a Warner Bros. casting call) and also Shelburne Falls in Western Massachusetts. According to OLV, The Judge producers were in Shelburne scoping out the scene and were particularly interested in Memorial Hall, where they decided to hold staging and extras.
The Judge is a dramedy about a lawyer (Downey) who comes home for his mother’s funeral to discover his judge father is suspected to be her murderer. The film also stars Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl), Vera Farmiga (Safe House, The Departed), and Billy Bob Thornton (Armageddon).

As for David O. According to OLV’s American Hustle open thread, the movie will be back in the Boston area this week, per a casting call for May 8. Other fans claimed to have seen actor Christian Bale in the Braintree area, and another fan’s mom found Cooper shooting in Salem:
