Boston’s Legoland Discovery Center Needs a New Master Builder
Face it: this is the job you’ve spent your whole life preparing for.
Ian Coffey, Master Builder of Boston’s Legoland Discovery Center in Somerville, stepped down from his post last month to pursue other career opportunity, leaving a full-time position that entails building the center’s attractions (including the popular “Miniland”), teaching Lego building workshops, conducting media interviews very much open.
“Although we’re sad that Ian has left, we’re looking at this as an opportunity to allow another individual to experience his or her dream job,” general manager David Gilmore said in a release.
From the Master Builder job description:
Must be able to design, build, remove, install, and repair all models for LEGOLAND Discovery Center attraction. Must be able to design and build models for a variety of attractions including MINILAND models ranging from minifigures to houses, and Show and Event style models of all sizes. Have flair with the use of colors for a wide range of model creations.
To find their new brick boss, Legoland Discovery Center will conduct a multi-tiered search starting today, running until September 13. Applicants must be 18 or older, and can apply either online or in-person.
After the application period has closed, the field will be cut to 50. Legoland will hold a one-day, free-to-attend build-off in Assembly Row on September 26, featuring two rounds of building challenges and an interview. At the end, a new Master Builder will be crowned.
