Tom Brady Calls Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Mark Wahlberg His ‘Boston Crew’

After being named the brand ambassador for Tag Heuer on Tuesday night, Tom Brady spoke to Entertainment Tonight about his rough year on and off the gridiron.

Despite dealing with a variety of scandals, including the infamous Deflategate situation, Brady opened up about how local stars Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Mark Wahlberg helped him deal with all the attention surrounding his various issues.

The Patriots star quarterback called the collection of Hollywood superstars his “Boston crew” during the interview.

“I’ve been a displaced Californian living in Boston and realizing the roots and how strong the Boston culture is, so that’s where I’ve been for 16 years of my life,” Brady said. “Those guys in particular, I’ve gotten to know over the years and they’re all friends. They believe in what we’re doing, and it’s great to have such great support from all those guys. That is the Boston crew, man.”

It’s a good thing that the local stars have each other’s backs, as each of the Boston celebrities have been embroiled in recent scandals.

Wahlberg made headlines in late 2014 for seeking a pardon for his 1988 assault charge, which he said he was “deeply sorry” for committing.

Meanwhile, the Good Will Hunting duo has also had a tough past few months.

Damon ticked off people on the Internet with his controversial statements about diversity on his reality series Project Greenlight, while Affleck has fought off any negativity stemming from his looming divorce with wife Jennifer Garner.

The difficult 2015 hasn’t really fazed the Boston boys, though.

Wahlberg recently unveiled his latest Wahlburgers restaurant in Fenway, while Damon has dominated the box office with his hit sci-fi thriller. Affleck also seems to be in good spirits en route to his debut as the Dark Knight in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Oh, and Brady has been having another stellar year on the field.

Never underestimate the bond between Bostonians.
