Internet Cat Video Festival 2015 Returns to Berklee Performance Center

When the Internet Cat Video Festival returns to Boston on October 29, it will fittingly coincide with National Cat Day.
The event, located at Berklee Performance Center for the second year in a row, will screen a reel featuring around 100 cat videos encompassing a wide range of formats (from six-second Vines to short films) and genres (comedy, drama, animated, musical, action, vintage, and documentary). Selections were nominated by the public and curated by Will Braden, creator of the popular “Henri le Chat Noir” series about an ennui-ridden tuxedo cat’s existential musings.
The festival will be hosted by Harvard Law School professor Jonathan Zittrain, an Internet expert who will discuss the growing cat video phenomenon and its importance.
Additionally, visitors are encouraged to show up in their best cat costumes or cat-themed clothing and enter a “catstume contest” for a chance to win prizes. Berklee’s appropriately feline mascot Mingus the Cat, as well as guests from the Gifford Cat Shelter and Boston’s Forgotten Felines, will also be present.
The upcoming Boston event is part of the fourth annual edition of the touring “offline celebration of online cat videos” hosted by the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis.
