Meghan Trainor, James Taylor Earn Grammy Nominations

The list of nominees for the 58th annual Grammy Awards was released on Monday morning and a number of local stars are up for gold at next year’s ceremony.

After earning nominations for Album of the Year and Song of the Year at the 2015 Grammy Awards, Nantucket native Meghan Trainor is now up for Best New Artist. The big news was announced when Alicia Keys stopped by CBS This Morning to talk about the nominations for the four general field categories, which include Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best New Artist.

The “All About That Bass” star isn’t the only Massachusetts born musician to earn a nod at the 2016 show.

Folk legend James Taylor will be going head-to-head with Taylor Swift in the Best Pop Vocal Album category, while Berklee College of Music alumnus Charlie Puth is nominated in three categories including Song of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.

New England native and Ted director Seth MacFarlane will also be a nominee in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for his Frank Sinatra inspired record No One Ever Tells You.
