Robert Kraft Praises Donald Trump ahead of Super Tuesday

Tom Brady isn’t Donald Trump’s only friend in Foxboro.

The Republican presidential hopeful and back mole of America, as John Oliver likes to call him, received some glowing praise from New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft ahead of Super Tuesday, which includes big primary races here in Massachusetts.

While he wouldn’t outright endorse the controversial candidate, Kraft called Trump “a very close friend” in a statement to the Boston Globe, adding that the two billionaire buddies “have had a lot of fun together” over the years.

The Patriots owner thinks so highly of his friendship with Trump, in part, for the way the business mogul reached out to Kraft following the death of his wife Myra.

“After my wife passed in 2011, he was one of the few people who went out of their way and went above and beyond to assist me through the most difficult time in my life,” Kraft said. “I will always be grateful to him for his thoughtfulness and his continued friendship.”

However, when you take a look at Kraft’s campaign contributions, he’s given money to several political figures on both sides of the aisle who have contentious relationships with his “close friend.”

According to the Big Lead, Kraft was the biggest donor out of any NFL owner during the 2012 presidential race, having donated $57,900 to the Obama Victory Fund, a fundraising committee for President Barack Obama.

Other notable contributions from Kraft over the years have gone to Mitt Romney and John McCain’s presidential campaigns, as well as Marco Rubio’s 2014 Senate campaign.
