Boston Bruins fans might not be happy with the latest casting news to come out of Patriots Day.

Former NHL star Sean Avery, who infamously gave Tim Tim Thomas an awful cheap shot as a member of the New York Rangers, has apparently been cast as a Watertown police officer in the upcoming Boston Marathon bombing movie.

On Tuesday morning, Avery posted a photo on Instagram of himself wearing a uniform accompanied by the caption, “#Ironic.”

We’re not exactly sure who he’s playing or if he even has that big of a role in the film, but it’s still strange to see a hated Bruins rival being cast in a Boston-based movie.

Prior to posting the photo, Avery released an excerpt from an email on Instagram which stated that he had been cast in Patriots Day. The message, allegedly from Boston Casting, said that Avery had been approved for a role, which would be filmed on Wednesday, April 20.

Directed by Peter Berg, Patriots Day stars Mark Wahlberg, Kevin Bacon, J.K. Simmons, John Goodman, and Michelle Monaghan. The film is scheduled to be released in Boston on December 21.
