Watch: First Clip from Natalie Portman’s Jackie Kennedy Movie
There’s a lot of buzz surrounding the new biopic on Jackie Kennedy, and judging by early reviews, it sounds like the film will definitely be a hit.
Jackie, directed by Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín, stars Natalie Portman as the former First Lady who is forced to deal with the fallout following President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. The drama isn’t expected to hit theaters in the U.S. until next year, but it has already received a ton of praise from critics after a screening at this year’s Venice Film Festival.
The Hollywood Reporter‘s review of Jackie called the film a “remarkably raw portrait” of the iconic First Lady and lauded the movie for being “extraordinary in its piercing intimacy and lacerating in its sorrow.”
Variety also had a lot of love for Jackie and praised Portman’s performance, which the publication believes “may just trump her Oscar-winning turn in Black Swan.”
One of the highlight’s from the Academy Award winner’s latest role is her spot on portrayal of Kennedy’s accent, which you can check out in the first clip from the movie above, courtesy of the Film Stage.
Jackie, which also stars Peter Sarsgaard, Greta Gerwig, and John Hurt, will be screened next at the Toronto International Film Festival this weekend.
