Sometimes it’s hard to swallow the markup on wine lists. Not so at Veronique. Owner Jim Apteker wants diners to learn about and taste wine, so he’s priced every bottle at just $10 over his cost. He makes the list still more approachable with inexpensive gems like 1999 Taft Street sauvignon blanc ($19) and 1998 Columbia Crest estate merlot ($24).
