Frank Clegg’s eponymous leather-goods line may be rooted in the past—the time-honored techniques he and his craftsmen use to make carryalls in Fall River haven’t changed much in 40-plus years—but Clegg has also kept up with the times. The exotic skins he sources, from wild alligator to ostrich, give classic bag silhouettes high-fashion polish, and the company’s hotly anticipated collaboration with menswear designer Michael Bastian recently launched online (the suede “Shield” duffel is a looker). Like all Clegg creations, they are investment pieces that only get better with age.
