Take the Orange Line to Malden’s Oak Grove T station, walk north on Washington Street, then left, up Goodyear Avenue. At the dead end, cross a footbridge into the woods of the Middlesex Fells and follow the Cascade Trail, which winds along a gentle hill among oaks, hemlocks, and beeches. Five minutes in, you can hear it (if the weather hasn’t been dry), then you see it: a 75-foot-tall waterfall splashing down rock ledges. Suddenly, you’re far from civilization.
