Howie’s Back! (Kind Of)

Judging by some of the comments left on our site, Howie Carr’s listeners miss him. To satisfy his fans and delight his detractors, jilted WRKO has developed a brilliant addition to its website called “Virtual Howie.” (Via Universal Hub.)

The Howie puppet has hands like a character from The Simpsons, but his mouth moves like Saddam Hussein on South Park. It’s a fun exercise to see the puppet bop about the screen, but we wish the Magnetic Poetry-inspired strip of phrases could be moved to form the rambling screeds that endear, or revolt, so many. If Carr can successfully escape his contract with WRKO, perhaps they can spend the salary they would have paid him to develop this Virtual Howie further.
