Street Style: Grad Student Swagger
Kittipong Saetia was strolling along Main Street in Kendall Square when I asked to take his photo. He readily agreed when I told him it was for a street style post, and he told me he often reads GQ for the snaps by Tommy Ton.
“GQ listed Boston as the worst dressed city in the country, didn’t they?” he asked me. “I guess they could have gotten that impression from college kids who don’t really care what they’re wearing, but I don’t think we’re that bad.”
I agreed whole-hardheartedly, as it’s my personal mission to prove GQ wrong about the ranking. Kittieong and other well-dressed Bostonians are combating the style black mark that hangs over our fair city, one outfit at a time.
What are you wearing?
My shoes are Clae, my jacket is from Mountain Hardwear, and my pants are Nudie Jeans. I like raw jeans. Oh, and my glasses are Polo.
And tell me about your bag?
My dad made this custom for me! He has a factory in Thailand; I designed it and he made it for me.
What’s your favorite spot to hang out in Boston?
Harvard Square. I like the little park area in front of Peet’s Coffee & Tea. There’s free, live music on the weekends; it’s really nice.
Where do you like to shop?
I like to go to Barneys New York, more so for the stuff I can’t really afford (laughs). I like the brand Club Monaco.
What’s your favorite place to eat or go for drinks?
I like Thai food and I’m a grad student, so I like cheap Thai food. I go to Pad Thai Cafe on Boylston a lot.
