Gilt City Returns to Boston For Their 2016 Warehouse Sale
Bargain hunters rejoice—Gilt City, an e-commerce hot spot for deep designer discounts, is bringing their irresistible sales right to our home turf for their annual warehouse sale. The flash-sale website is opening their doors to Boston’s frugal fashionistas this week at the Cyclorama in the South End.
The two-day sale kicks off on Thursday with a Press Preview event. At $15 per ticket, this first-dibs opportunity is the priciest option, but when you’re leaving with an armful of designer duds, will the price of admission really matter? The shoes, bags, jewelry, clothes (for women, men, and kids), and home goods on display will be up to 80 percent off their retail price and include up-and-coming designers alongside the classic heavy-hitters. Shoppers can expect to find Prada, Valentino, Oscar de la Renta, Jimmy Choo, Tom Ford, Derek Lam, Helmut Lang, Chloé, Lanvin, Maje, Carolina Herrera, Thakoon, and GANT. The event will also offer a pop-up boutique featuring Ash + Ames, a line of globally-sourced boho-chic jewelry.
And while the potential haul is reason enough to get on the list, guests will be met with La Marca Prosecco to take the edge off (or Stella Artois for those partial to beer and cider), live music by local DJ Chris Roxx, and a variety of snacks like Luna Bars and Popchips for sustenance while fending off the competition.
As usual, these sales are not for the faint of heart. Arrive with a game plan (pro tip: It’s always best to start in the footwear section) and remember to keep your eye on the prize. Those with tickets to the earlier shifts will fare much better, so consider taking a long shopping lunch on Friday afternoon. And speed is key—if you leave your jacket at home and bring a handbag under 5″x 7″, they’ll let you through their “FastPass” line (like Disney World, but with stilettos).
Happy shopping!
