Critics say this city has no style. We’re here to prove them wrong. Welcome to HubThreads, where we chat with the most stylish people we find out and about in Boston. Think you or someone you know has the best street style? Let us know.

AKEEM

Where did you get your glasses? Because I love them. I got them at this shop around the corner called Bodega. What happened was that I really wanted white glasses. These are sunglasses originally, so I went to my eye doctor and he put in prescription lenses.

How would you describe your style? The best way that I can describe it is that I’m myself. I try to wear my interests first and foremost, instead of seeing what’s trendy.  If it’s more personal, than someone can’t bite you because there is only one of you. I try to express that through clothes and music and everything honestly.

Are you a musician? No, but I get that a lot. I haven’t nailed down what I want to do yet, but I feel like next year I’m gonna have to put me on notice. I got a job that I really wanted, but because I got the job, I want to do more. I need to develop my skill set.

What’s the job? I do social media management for a company. It’s cool because I interned there for a while and I worked my way up.

Do you want to stay at that company? Yes, but I want to diversify my skill set.

Have you told them that you want to do more? They’re obviously invested in you. Yeah, but I want to present myself as close to a finished product as possible. I don’t want to waste someone’s time. I want to take like 6-8 months to figure out what I want to do, execute it, hone it and then say, “Hey this is what I want to do.” I want to show action as opposed to just saying it as a dream.

So smart! That’s my goal.

How old are you? 26.

You seem very wise beyond your years. That’s because you’re asking me like interview questions, but if you asked me about Anime…

Really? You’re really into Anime? I love cartoons, I love sports, I love clothes, and music.

What clothes specifically? Do you have brands that you love? I don’t believe in brands. I like designers. If I had to name some I would say Ralph Lauren, Hedi Slimane when he was at Dior, Christophe Decarnin when he was at Balmain, Marc Jacobs when he was at Louis, Alessandro now at Gucci- he’s fire, he’s fire. Tom Ford when he was at Gucci. I just like the best, I guess, and then I’m just trying to figure out how to make that my own.
