Denmark Digestive Health owner Dr. Vera Denmark brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to patients in the Boston area. She received her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine before completing a residency in internal medicine at Boston Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in gastroenterology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. Dr. Denmark then joined the faculty at Mount Sinai as a teaching attending on the inflammatory bowel disease service and conducted laboratory research in IBD under the mentorship of Dr. Lloyd Mayer. In 2013, Dr. Denmark joined the faculty at Newton-Wellesley Hospital as the first medical director of inflammatory bowel disease research. In addition to her interest in Crohn's and colitis, she had an extensive general GI practice at NWH from 2013 through 2024 when she launched Denmark Digestive Health. Now in her own practice she manages a variety of GI conditions, from reflux to constipation, with a special interest in IBD and irritable bowel syndrome and the overlap between the two conditions.
