The Wipeout Run Is Coming to Boston

It looks like the TV show, only bigger.

Just when you thought “extreme races” couldn’t get any more garish crazy, everyone’s favorite summertime TV game show is coming to a city near you in the form of a 5K race.

Despite taglines like “the bigger the balls, the harder the falls” and “expect crashes, splashes, and hilarious smashes,” the Wipeout Run’s 12-obstacles do look like a lot of fun. That is, of course, if you can get past some of obstacle’s names like “Big Balls” and “Happy Endings.” Included on the 3.1-mile course: the infamous wrecking balls.

The exact Wipeout Run Boston date and location is still being determined, but you can expect it in the summer because who on Earth would schedule an event with waterslides in New England anytime other than the summer? Last year, a similar race (which has now been folded into this race) called the Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge (ROC Race) took place in mid-August at Patriots Place in Foxboro, so it’s safe to say history could repeat itself.
