Uber Is Making Donating to AIDS Prevention Easier than Ever
Tomorrow, you won’t have to feel guilty about your Uber addiction.
In honor of World AIDS Day, Uber, king of catering to the lazy, is giving riders a way to join the fight against AIDS without ever looking up from their smartphones. Anyone who chooses the (RED) option when they call an Uber tomorrow will get a text after their ride asking if they’d like to donate $5 to (RED), the Bono-founded organization dedicated to stopping transmission of HIV and AIDS. Donating is as easy as replying to the message.
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has pledged to match total donations made through the app—and since the initiative is happening in 150 cities nationwide, including Boston, that could amount to a pretty significant donation.
Even if you won’t be Ubering tomorrow, you can donate directly through (RED)‘s website.
