Take note, sneaker heads. Another local company is rolling out limited-edition kicks, just a few weeks before the Boston Marathon.

As it does each spring, New Balance just released new Boston-themed sneakers. This year, the company is putting out new iterations of its Fresh Foam 1080 and Fresh Foam Zante V2. Both special-edition models are a nod to Boston’s culture and identity, are emblazoned with our fine city’s name, and boast an outline of Massachusetts on the sockliner.

The Fresh Foam Zante V2’s crimson, gray, and gold color palate honors Boston’s heritage as a college town, while its lightweight mesh exterior and toe spring are built for speed.

The Fresh Foam 1080, on the other hand, uses wintery colors and patterns to salute the Boston runners who train in snow, sleet, and ice for months on end. Its extra-cushioned sole also offers some escape from the harsh elements.

Both models will be available April 1. The Zante V2 will sell for $115, while the Fresh Foam 1080 will retail for $165.
