This Is What a Pro Figure Skater Eats for Breakfast
We don’t need to tell you that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. In this series, we’re asking some of Boston’s top doctors, fitness pros, and dietitians for a sneak peek into their kitchens, so we can see what’s on their breakfast table.
Lauren McCabe
Claim to fame: The Falmouth native and professional figure skater is a performer in Disney On Ice’s latest show, “Follow Your Heart.” The show comes to Boston’s TD Garden from February 17 to February 26. McCabe says she’s been to the Garden many times to see other athletes and artists live out their passions, and she’s excited to live out hers.
What she ate: Egg whites with salsa and fresh spinach, paired with Greek yogurt topped with strawberries, coconut shavings, dried cranberries, and walnuts.
Why she chose it: This is McCabe’s go-to while staying in hotels on tour. Protein keeps her energized for hours, she says, “especially on long, three-show days.” Living out of a hotel and eating a balanced breakfast can be tough, but McCabe tries to start the day right with a breakfast of eggs and fruit that keeps her full “without being too heavy when spinning through the air.”
