Boston Area Yoga Studios and Gyms Open on Christmas Day

If you're looking for a respite from relatives, head to the gym—instead of the bar.

The presents are wrapped (and some are even opened), the cookies are cooling, and the tinsel is hung by the fireplace with care. Now, give yourself the care you need by heading to the gym. Your New Years resolutions don’t need to wait until January 1—better yet, you don’t need a resolution to commit to a happier and healthier lifestyle. All you need is to throw on the tennies and some leggings and hit the ground running—as fast as you can away from crazy Aunt Debbie—and head straight to these Boston area yoga studios and gyms open on Christmas Day. We even included the ones open on Christmas Eve.

Lynx Fitness Club (open until 12 p.m.): This 2018 Best of Boston winner is in the space of the old David Barton gym. Memberships are capped at a certain number to avoid those annoying lines and cramped quarters on the turf space. Bodyscapes (open until 2 p.m.): Swing by this all-inclusive gym if you need one-on-one personal training, a high-energy group class, or a spot to drop in and get a quick lift in during lunch. They have free day lockers and towel service as well as a fully equipped free-weight room, treadmills, stair climbers, and bikes. Group classes include BodyPump, Zumba, yoga, and more.

77 Ave. Louis Pasteur, Boston, 617-738-9229, bodyscapesfitness.com

All BSC locations (open until 5 p.m.): Each one of the 13 BSC locations across the city are open until 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve, really leaving you with no excuse not to pop in. Each location offers something a little different, but most will have plenty of cardio and strength equipment and turf space. Some have pools, basketball courts, or squash courts.
