Cheer Yourself Up with These Cute Videos of Creative Family Workouts
The toddler lift is very good for core strength.
To no one’s surprise, I miss the gym dearly. And my heart aches for the personal trainers and small gym business owners who are scrambling to stay afloat during this time. Luckily, we have the internet and virtual fitness. But as all fitness lovers know, it doesn’t beat the camaraderie of being in the weight room slamming heavy barbells with buddies, rolling out a yoga mat in a crowded (and hot) studio, or clipping onto an indoor spin bike.
While we may be without our fancy gym equipment and packed fitness rooms, we aren’t without creativity and functioning bodies. It’s a beautiful thing to watch (via screens and on walks) the myriad of ways people are redefining exercise during social isolation, and exploring how to use their own bodies as the machines they were always intended to be. We may benefit from Eleiko barbells and Lululemon yoga mats, but we certainly don’t need them to be healthy, happy, or fit. And don’t take my word for it: Just look at the smiles on the faces of these Bostonians below.
