There was a time when “yoga music” was synonymous with “nap-inducing.” Not anymore. These days, there’s a yoga class for just about any music preference, from African to reggae.

Below, our round-up of yoga classes with music in Boston:

African

Afro Flow: Afro Flow holds classes at the Dance Complex in Cambridge. Classes fuse yoga and dance, using the beat of African drums to get participants moving.

$16 per class. 536 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, afroflowyoga.com.

Hip Hop

Acorn Yoga: Start your weekend nights at Acorn’s glow yoga classes, set to a loud, upbeat playlist. Glow sticks and glow paint are included in the admission price.

Yoga Works: If the crowd that packs the room for hip hop yoga classes at Yoga Works (formerly Back Bay Yoga) is any indication, this trend isn’t going anywhere. The classes are 90 minutes long and held in a heated room. Expect explicit lyrics and great playlists.

$15 per class. Yoga Works Back Bay, 364 Boylston St., Boston, 617-375-9642 and Yoga Works Comm. Ave, 1032 Commonwealth Ave., Boston, 617-277-9642, yogaworks.com.

Miscellaneous

Be. Yoga: The Bump Your Flow class at this Somerville studio doesn’t conform to just one style of music, instead pulling in selections from a variety of genres and eras.
