Just after Labor Day, Reebok quietly opened a showroom on Newbury Street. But the Canton-based brand wants the store to be about more than scoring your 100th pair of leggings.

The showroom, located at 135 Newbury Street, is only open for shopping 20 hours per week. The remaining time is devoted to community-focused events such as workshops, lectures, and free fitness classes, taught by local instructors and studios.

Already, Reebok has brought in Tempo Cycling and trainer Katie Dolaher to lead workouts in the space. Katie Harty, Reebok Boston’s experiential marketing manager, says more partnerships are on the way.

“The idea is that we showcase the local studios, as well as the local trainers, to really get people in to get a sense of them and connect with them,” she says. “If they have a great experience, they go and take classes at their location.”

Classes and events will be posted on Reebok Boston’s Facebook page, and on Eventbrite. The showroom is also open for shopping Tuesdays through Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Free fitness on one of Boston’s priciest streets? We like the sounds of that.
