On Tuesday, February 27, 2018, Boston’s first luxury theatre, ShowPlace ICON at Seaport celebrated its grand opening and warmed people up for Oscar Sunday with a swanky red carpet party. As one of the most technologically advanced theatres in the country and the most luxurious theatre in Boston, ShowPlace ICON at Seaport has utterly transformed movie going with everything from laser projection, to Dolby Atmos sound, to heated recliner seats.

The red carpet party was hosted by co-founders, Tony and Dean Kerasotes, legends in the movie industry, and welcomed 300 boldface names and movie buffs. After posing with 8-food gold award statues, guests could sip on cocktails and enjoy bites from ShowPlace ICON’s Lobby Lounge, kick back in the theatre’s heated leather recliner seats while screening chapters of select 2018 Oscar nominated films, watch artists from Artists for Humanity live drawing a vibrant mural of Boston’s skyline which will hang in the space, dance to jazz by Portland’s viva & The Reinforcements, or channel their inner actor with a green screen photo booth inspired by I, Tonya, The Post, The Shape of Water, and The Greatest Showman.

Calling One Seaport, the largest mixed-used development in the city in 30 years its home, ShowPlace ICON at Seaport neighbors such brands as Kings Dining & Entertainment, For Now, Caffe Nero, Mr. Sid, sweetgreen, and Tuscan Kitchen, and is positioned below VIA’s 478 modern apartment homes.
