Over 700 guests gathered at the Hingham Shipyard on Thursday, October 11, 2018, to raise $225,000 to support young girls who have experienced the early loss of their mothers at the third annual empowerHER Soirée. Speakers, including Mike Welch and his daughter Lena Welch, Muriel Mena, student at Whitman Hanson High School and Christine Dube, an empowerHER mentor from Boston, shared their insight into how the program has made a significant impact on their lives as they each navigate the challenging terrain of grief. Nicole Estaphan of WCVB’s Chronicle and Jim Fagan served as emcees and managed the inspiring paddle raise!

Sponsors including Quincy Mutual, Ropes & Gray, Jack Conway Realtor, Campanelli, and numerous other philanthropic leaders from the South Shore, made the event possible. Local restaurants including Brian Houlihan and his team at Trident Galley & Raw Bar, Chef Jimmy Liang of Fuji at WoC, Paul Wahlberg, Alma Nove, Cypress Catering Company, Novara, Joe Norton of Mullaney’s Harborside Fish Market, and Tinka Martini McCauley and Steve McCauley of Boathouse Bistro, shared their delicious small bites. Elissa Montilio of Montilio’s Baking Company & Pizzeria presented a breathtaking dessert table. Jonathan Dunn and his incredible team at Lavishly Dunn Catering and Event Planning ensured the inspiring evening went off without a hitch!
