Is This Church Sign Offensive?

Ahh, Boston. Hometown of venerated sports teams, prestigious universities, arts & culture, and … overt racism? I spotted this marquis outside of Old South Church yesterday afternoon — now is it just me, or is this insanely offensive on first glance?

According to OSC’s website, the church is a “spiritual home to people from all walks and stations of life, believers and questioners, people from a range of backgrounds and faith perspectives.” While it then became clear that they’re trying to make a statement about being open and welcoming (by pointing out that there are still racial divisions that exist between religions), the way the words stand alone comes across as quite the opposite:
