Georgetown Joins EdX

Georgetown to Join Online Education Platform EdX. The university will join edX starting with the fall 2013 launch of GeorgetownX, Georgetown President John J. Degioia announced on Sunday. Georgetown is the latest to join the venture—and the first in the D.C. area—started by Harvard and MIT. Man with a Plan: Deval Patrick Wants Tolls to Go Electronic. In a new union contract proposal, the Patrick administration inserted a clause that allows the power to “have the unlimited right … to eliminate manual toll collection.” Patrick is pushing for alternative tolling for Mass Pike, the Tobin Bridge, and the Ted Williams or Sumner and Callahan tunnels, according to the Herald.  [Herald]

On Sunday, the Globe published its first edition of a three-part series titled ‘Justice in the Shadows,’ which looks at the convicted criminals released from U.S. prison whose native countries won’t accept them. Casey Affleck to Make Movie About Boston Strangler. A spokesperson for Warner Bros. Studios confirmed on Friday night that the studio picked up a pitch from Affleck to make a movie about the series of unsolved murders at the hands of one of the most notorious serial killers in history. Those Cold Sea Turtles Stranded on the Cape Are Now in Florida. The 35 turtles who were stranded in the frigid waters along the Cape caught a lift from the U.S. Coast Guard. They’re continuing their recovery at various locations in Florida.   [Examiner]
